Welcome to history living
We have both had many years’ experience in presenting living history work with schools, museums, visitors at Kentwell Hall in Suffolk and also at Space to Grow in Farnham. We have also taught historical dance and performed on Television.
What We Do
Our workshops include medicines, social history, dance (appearances on ITV), religion, rich and poor contrasts, education, needlework and festivals and many more topics, particularly focussing on Roman, Medieval, Tudor, Georgian, Regency and Victorian eras. (For schools, we can take up to 30 children at a time, but prefer to have a member of staff present if possible).
We aim to make events as interactive and hands on as is possible. We will often present in the first person if requested.
Remember, we are very happy to discuss bespoke events to suit your requirements and venue.
Rosie and Ruth are available to visit venues and museums to run many events such as historical and themed workshops.
Victorian
Visitors can try on different hats and learn about the different types of status.
Have a go at Victorian Crafts e.g. decoupage, crochet.
Victorian Gentry teaching waltz and Polka steps.
Victorian clothing.
Victorian games and leisure.
Other social history topics; ask us we may be able to help.
We have other contacts that can also join us for events (for example musicians). This would be subject to additional costs.
Regency
Regency hat shop. An opportunity to try on hats and discover what was worn at that time.
Crafts, making ribbon flowers.
Dances. Learn what was danced at an assembly.
Social history and etiquette.
Medieval
Medieval Stillroom-plants and equipment used to remedy ailments.
Talks on witches or wise women.
Medieval dances, farandoles, estampes etc.
Religion
Magic
A Magical experience with arts and crafts.
Making wands or dream wishes or necklaces and bracelets.
If your imagination can dream it up, ask us, we might be able to make your wish come true.
The cheeky gnomes tell jokes, stories, riddles and rhymes.
They will talk to you about mini-beasts and all things good for the environment.
Tudor
Tudor Stillroom and other medical treatments.
Tudor Dances.
Tudor games.
Social History-roles of men and women.

Our Cost
Full day workshop -£300 per day for Rosie and Ruth, plus expenses (generally between £20 to £200 depending on travel and materials), consecutive days at £200 per day, plus expenses (minimum booking one day).
This is only an estimate, if you have specific requests or need extra presenters we are happy to discuss arrangements.
